Houston Saengerbund

The German Texas Heritage Society is the central society for German Texan Culture. They have a historical and genealogical library and lots of special events. Based in Austin, Texas and has several chapters throughout Texas including Houston.

The Deutsch-Texanisches Saengerbund (DTSB) is a society that represents the German-American singing societies in Texas and Louisiana. Founded in 1854 it continues the tradition of a Staatssaengerfest or state singing festival with almost yearly events.

The Goethe Institut is Germany’s Premier Culture Institute with many sites all over the world. With a site in Houston contemporary cultural events are constantly being held. There are other resources as well.

The Deutsche Samstagsschule was founded in 1986 and provides in-person German Language lessons for children and adults providing recognized certificates

The Nordamerikanischer Saengerbund is the overall organization for nearly one hundred German choirs in the United States and Canada

The American Association of Teachers of German supports  Travel and German Language immersion experiences for Houston Saengerbund to Germany for Americans. We are proud to be a partner.

The German Consulate provides consular services for German and Americans. Austrian and Swiss Citizens are served by honorary consuls living in Houston.
